High Level Summary

This role is responsible for providing front line technical applications support to our customers. The candidate will be expected to be knowledgeable not only in the equipment and controls EMEC Machine Tools represents, but also in the field of metal cutting / metal working. To be successful in this role, one must regularly apply both disciplines to solve complex customer problems or satisfy requests.

In addition to these technical requirements, the candidate must present this skillset to the customer in a way that instills confidence and trust. This role involves working closely with our customers, both in a pre-sale capacity (sales calls, collaborative machine selection, etc. to customers and prospects) and post-sale support (training, post-dev support, solving machining challenges, custom macro programs, turnkey support, etc.). Our goal is to provide customers with the best possible experience in their dealing with our Applications team at all levels. This role has many expectations, but they can be distilled down to one – ensure every customer that interacts with EMEC applications has their expectations exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

Post-Sale Support

  • Provide Machine and Control training on the full EMEC line of CNC machines.
  • Work with Customers to solve manufacturing challenges they may encounter. This can take the form of solving machining issues such as vibration/surface finish, creating custom machining or probing macros to simplify tasks, optimizing cycle times, etc.
  • Work with Management and Customers to provide support that exceeds their needs and expectations.
  • Coordinate with Management, Service, and the Customer to ensure an overlapping handoff on new machine installs. Handoffs must be smooth and effortless for the Customer.

Pre-Sale Support

  • Work closely with the sales team and provide support to close orders.
  • Provide process estimates, cycle time analyses, and expert manufacturing advice.
  • Attend on-site customer meetings with sales personnel.
  • Function as a subject matter expert for the sales team, with deep knowledge of all EMEC product lines.

Showroom and Trade Show Support

  • Ensure the showroom is always in ‘customer visit’ condition.
  • When required, create demos on showroom machine to highlight unique characteristics of each piece of equipment.
  • Prepare machines, demos, tools, work holding, etc. for trade shows and implement them on site.
  • Attend trade shows and engage with Prospects and Customers, representing yourself and EMEC in the best possible light.

Continuous Improvement

  • Always endeavor to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
  • Stay up to date on the latest products and services from our vendors.
  • Look for opportunities for growth in both yourself, and the company. If at anytime you see an opportunity for improving the customer experience, it should be reported/investigated immediately.

EMEC Machine Tools is looking for proven Area Sales Managers to join our sales team. The firm’s products are high quality CNC machinery from Japan, Germany and the UK.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing and building relationships with our existing CNC machine tool customer base as well as developing new business opportunities in our Ontario office.

Experience in sales of machine tools, particularly to the automotive, aerospace, mold and die and industrial markets is highly desirable. The individual will bring to the position high credibility through proven track record of performance, and who brings inside knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm to their new job.

The individual is accountable for account development, and developing and maintaining strong customer relations with their territory. The individual’s collaborative nature will help you succeed when coordinating with internal departments, our builders and suppliers.   • Responsible for identifying customers needs and solutions and maintain face to face time with customers/prospects.
  • Managing critical projects through installations and ensuring optimal customer satisfaction,
  • Responsible for prospecting via phone, and drop ins of new potential customers within the territory.
  • Maintain a strong teamwork relationship with all internal departments. (Service/Engineering/Admin/Parts/Sales)
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our builders and suppliers.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the customer database using EMEC’s web-based CRM software. (Lead Management, Sales Forecasts, Call Activity, Follow Up Plans etc)
  • Actively attends/participates in product training seminars

Qualifications:

  • Experience within the Machine Tool Industry
  • Experience in the position of Area Sales Manager.
  • Must have a strong mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, such as collaboration, listening, respect and work ethic, which leads to lasting and trusting relationships with team members and customers.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical and electrical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals to identify problems.

  • Recommend and install machine upgrades, retrofits, and replacement components.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers on-site and remotely.

  • 5+ years of experience in CNC machine tool service, maintenance, or repair.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC controls such as Okuma and Fanuc.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites (regional/national).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift heavy components as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma or certification in Electromechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or CNC Technology.
  • Experience working with major CNC brands such as Okuma, Tsugami etc.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and automation systems.
